Mr Triming had been serving as the interim chairperson for months, but was not formally placed in the position when the committee held its annual general meeting this month.
Instead, Ms Hancock, who served 18 months as chairperson after being elected in 2019, was chosen by the committee.
She said that Mr Triming "has done a brilliant job" over a number of years, but the committee was looking to go in a different direction with its leadership.
Mr Triming has always preferred for the chairperson to also serve as secretary, but the majority of BRAC members want the positions to be separate.
This was a major reason behind the change of leadership.
"I spoke to all the committee, I said I was going to put my hand up and they were supportive of me," Ms Hancock said.
"... They wanted more of the traditional form of leadership, because we now have a chairperson (me), a secretary (Vicki Fallon), and we have two vice chairs, Paul Haysom and Dawn Eves.
"I think that will be a good team. We will work together well."
BRAC will continue to address access issues under Ms Hancock's leadership, but she also hopes to make some changes to the committee.
This includes introducing a constitution and code of conduct, along with expanding the committee and improving its relationship with council staff.
For Mr Triming, he will continue to be a private disability advocate.
