The school recently sent two teams of students to the Tournament of the Minds Competition.
The aim of the competition is to enhance the potential of students by developing diverse skills, enterprise, time management, and the discipline to work collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment.
Eglinton Public School's Cal Abbott said the team members worked together over six weeks, without assistance from anyone outside their team, to develop a creative way to communicate their challenge solution to a panel of judges.
"Due to COVID restrictions the competition was flipped to an online format where students presented their prepared challenges for the Western Region finals to a judging panel via Zoom," she said.
The team known as The Baguette Bunch, featuring Charlotte McCurley, Daniel Briffa, Annabel Ruddick, Riley Murray, Millie McCumstie, Clara Owen and Willow Ruddick, received honours for their entry in the Literature division.
But it was the Smarty Arties, with members Zach Weal, Brooke Rankin, Matilda Steer , Megan Smuts, Liana Schmidt and Henry McCurley, that won the Arts section with their entry.
The team moved on to the state final and won the competition.
"Our school is immensely proud of the determination and talent of all team members and congratulate them on their success," Ms Abbott said.
The students received medallions for their win.
