POLICE say a third teenager has been charged following a confrontation with officers at Forbes, as a critical incident investigation continues.

Police say officers from Central West Police District attended Calarie Road, Forbes shortly after 3am on Monday, December 27 in pursuit of a utility which had been reported stolen.
At Daroobalgie Road, the utility stopped, and the driver left the vehicle, pursued by police on foot.

At this time, a second vehicle is alleged to have driven at police before police discharged their firearm.
A 16-year-old boy suffered a wound to his left calf and was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to The Children's Hospital at Westmead in a stable condition.
Two teens - also aged 16 - were charged at the time and remain before the courts.
Police say the injured 16-year-old boy was released from hospital and arrested by investigators at St Marys Police Station on Thursday, December 30.
He was charged with being carried in a conveyance taken without the consent of the owner.
Police say the teen was also charged with armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, affray, and destroying or damaging property, in relation to an unrelated incident at Forbes on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
He appeared at Parramatta Children's Court on Friday, December 31, where he was formally refused bail to appear at a children's court on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
Police say a critical incident team from Orana Mid-West Police District will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the discharge of a police firearm.
That investigation will be subject to independent review.
