
NEW COVID cases in the Bathurst Regional local government area and Western NSW Local Health District overall were both well down in the latest reporting period, but hospitalisations jumped dramatically.

There were five COVID cases in the health district's hospitals in the 24 hours to 8pm on Thursday, four in the 24 hours to 8pm on Friday (with none in ICU), still four in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday (with one in ICU) and seven in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday (with one in ICU).
In the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday, however, that almost doubled to 13 cases in the health district's hospitals, though there is still just the one case in ICU.
Bathurst Regional, meanwhile, had four new COVID cases after recording 16 new cases in the 24 hours previously.
IN OTHER NEWS AROUND BATHURST:
Of the Western NSW Local Health District's 150 new cases (down by just over 70 on the previous 24 hours), Orange had 64 and Dubbo Regional local government area had 29, after recording 106 in the previous 24 hours.
Blayney local government area had five.
Across NSW, in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday, there were 23,131 new cases of COVID, up by more than 2300 on the previous day, and two deaths, according to NSW Health - one in Sydney and one in the Newcastle area
IN OTHER NEWS AROUND BATHURST:
NSW Health says there are 1344 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital in the state, up by 140 on the previous day, and 105 people in intensive care, up by 10 on the previous day.
Of those, 27 require ventilation, which is up by two on the previous day.
