The Eglinton RFS says its firefighters were called to reports of a gas cylinder alight at the Bridle Track campgrounds north of Bathurst at about 10am on Friday.
"Our team, along with Bruinbun Rural Fire Service, responded to find the cylinder almost out," Eglinton RFS said.
"However, a man had sustained significant burns from the fire."
"NSW Ambulance Community First Responders from Sofala, as well as NSW Ambulance paramedics, attended the scene to provide treatment, along with Toll Ambulance Rescue 206, who retrieved the man for specialty burns treatment.
"NSW Police Force Rescue Unit from Bathurst were also in attendance.
"The NSW Rural Fire Service team made the area safe, and assisted as required in this multi-agency response."
