The player, who has chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private, so it is not known if it was a man or woman, had a 10 Spot win on Friday night with an entry bought at the Portland RSL Sport and Recreation Club.
The total windfall was $1,050,951.80.
IN NEWS AROUND BATHURST:
Portland RSL Sport and Recreation Club president Denis Kelly said the entire team was celebrating.
"What a fantastic prize to win," he said.
"I was in the club when the 10 Spot went off and everyone was so excited.
"It's a big win for Portland, so as you can imagine, it's the talk of the town.
"We're all so happy for the winner and hope they can use their prize in some exciting ways.
"Big wins like this are not only great for the winner, but our venue and the community, so hopefully we have another soon."
Bathurst's $2.3 million Lotto winner, who got his big surprise in the New Year's Eve draw, told an official from The Lott that he would be using his winnings to give back to his mother.
"It just makes things a whole lot easier," he said.
"I don't have a house of my own, but that might change this year.
"I also really want to help my mum. She's done a lot for me and I want to make sure she's looked after."
