The event, which launched the library's summer school holiday program, was held to honour family diversity.
Bathurst Library programs team leader Victoria Murray said the event was well attended by children and their families.
"We've had lots of families join in, and they've painted everything from rainbows to Pokemon," Ms Murray said.
"Some children have even attempted to paint their families, and its truly been a unique experience for children to let their imaginations run wild."
Ms Murray said the paintings will be on display for the next two weeks, allowing plenty of time for members of the community to view the creations.
"Only acrylic paint was used for the paintings, so it'll be easy to wash off with warm, soapy water," she said.
"The paintings also pair quite nicely with the artwork on the forecourt columns that were created during a Bathurst Regional Art Gallery [BRAG] workshop a few holidays ago."
Ms Murray said the library and art gallery school holiday programs never fail to attract a dedicated following in between terms.
"All our summer holiday programs have booked out, and with BRAG set to commence their own program from next Monday, there'll be to keep children entertained in the weeks ahead," she said.
"There are reserve lists for each school activity, and we'll inform those on the list whenever there's a cancellation."
The program continues on Wednesday, where tutor Fiona Howle will lead a small group to create mini rainbow books filled with affirmations.
There will also be workshops involving galaxy t-shirts [Friday], key chains and bag tags [next Tuesday] and stained glass windows [next Thursday].
Drag queen entertainer Betty Confetti will also be welcomed to the library next Monday for a rainbow story-time session promoting inclusivity and being true to yourself. For more information, visit the Bathurst Library website.
