Just a matter of days after helping Western achieve second place at the NSW Country Colts Championship in Bathurst the rising St Pat's Old Boys player heads to Dubbo from Tuesday to take part in the Under 17s State Challenge.
It's a four day turnaround for Parsons after he last played on Thursday, during Western's impressive last round victory over North Coastal (he was rested on Saturday), and has been using the time inbetween to take things easy.
"I've got a few rest days to help the body recover. I'm just trying to make the most of them before getting back into it," Parsons said.
Parsons was one of the younger members in the Western squad for the past week's under 18s tournament, and will now hope the week of tough competition puts him in good stead for his return to under 17s.
He showed off a lot of his all-round credentials throughout the week in the colts competition, finding an unbeaten 22 to help Western chase down Riverina's score.
In the same game he claimed 1-20 from seven overs and in the last round picked up 3-29.
Parsons said it was satisfying to see the team put things together as the week progressed.
"We lost a few wickets in a bunch on that first day but we rebuilt through the next three days," he said.
"We all tried to work as our team and play our individual roles.
"Now at this one there will be a few more people my age. We'll see what the competition is like.
"I played in this a couple of years ago, and that was in Dubbo as well. It's been a while since then, so it's good to be back."
Parsons will be part of the Country Lions squad for the week's action, which begins at Victoria Park on Tuesday in a game against the Sydney Sharks from 9.30am.
The team returns for another 50 over game the following day against the Country Kangaroos before wrapping things up on Thursday with a Twenty20 game against Sydney Scorpions.
