It comes after the Bathurst 12 Hour, an international GT racing event, was shifted from February to May in light of issues relating to the surging COVID-19 pandemic.
All parties involved agreed the new date was better suited given current concerns with COVID and quarantine regulations for international competitors.
"This is the best outcome for the event under the current circumstances," Supercars chief operating officer Shane Howard said.
"This new date alleviates pressure on international competitors and freight operators as well as marshals, officials and volunteers who play a critical role in the success of the event every year."
Although cases are continuing to rise, event director Ken Collier doesn't see the planned date for the Bathurst 6 Hour changing.
"Unlike the 12 Hour, the 6 Hour isn't relying on any significant amount of international competitors," he said.
"We're pretty much self-contained within Australia. There are a few international drivers who want to do the 6 Hour production car race, but we won't be affected if they aren't able to come.
"We're 100 per cent full steam ahead."
He also said that the organisers behind the event have confidence in the government's handling of the pandemic.
"We really as an organisation have great confidence in the way the governments and health authorities are handling the current situation and progressing on," he said.
"We're also buoyed by the level of vaccination that is basically compulsory now in motor sport. We're more than confident that everything is going to be just fine for Easter."
If all goes to plan, it will be a bumper event at Mount Panorama.
A record grid is anticipated after multiple entrants had to be turned away due to capacity limits.
"The race itself was oversubscribed, with the maximum number being 70 cars. No one has withdrawn yet, so we will rock up with 70 cars on the grid and have a great race I suspect," Mr Collier said.
"In addition, the support categories that we have coming are all locked in and confirmed."
The event will be held from April 15 to 17, with the endurance race held on the last day.
Tickets are still on sale and available from the Bathurst 6 Hour website. They can be purchased in advance or at the event.
Fans have the option to purchase tickets for individual days or can get a pass that covers the duration of the event.
