Two states will shed a seat each at the next election while another gains an electorate, with population changes factored into the national electoral map.

NSW will have 46 seats up for grabs and Victoria will have 38, while Western Australia increases its share of lower house spots to 16 seats.
"All other states and territories have retained their current number of seats as a result of this determination," Australian Electoral Commissioner Tom Rogers said.
"The changes will see the House of Representatives return to 150 seats when the next federal election is contested in either 2024 or 2025."
Federal MPs will continue to represent their seats, and there will be no impact on the Indigenous voice to parliament referendum, to be held later in 2023.
The commission will appoint committees to investigate electoral boundaries and names in coming months, with the public invited to have their say.
