The Chery Omoda 7 will slot in above the existing Omoda 5, and the Chinese carmaker has released a single teaser image ahead of a reveal on April 28.
The image shows the side profile of the car, which features unusual lighting elements up front and 'lightning' tail light graphics.

There's also a similar C/D-pillar treatment to both the Chery Omoda 5 and Tiggo 7 Pro with a "floating" roof treatment and a sharp point to the belt line.
Chery has yet to reveal dimensions, but the Omoda 7 will almost certainly be larger than the Omoda 5 which measures 4400mm long, 1830mm wide, 1588mm tall and which sits on a 2630mm wheelbase.
The carmaker treats Omoda as a sub-brand in some markets– joining the Arrizo range of sedans in China and the Tiggo range of SUVs in both China and Australia, for example – and its own brand in markets like Europe and South Africa.

In some markets, Chery will sell the RX from its more premium Exeed brand as the Omoda 9.
The Exeed RX/Omoda 9 measures 4781mm long, 1920mm wide and 1671mm tall on a 2815mm wheelbase, or 34mm shorter, 20mm wider and 24mm lower than a Kia Sorento on an identical wheelbase.
That points to the Omoda 7 being close to the mid-sized Toyota RAV4, or Chery's own Tiggo 7 Pro.
Chery hasn't confirmed local launch timing for the Omoda 7, but it will soon have a total of three mid-sized SUVs on offer in Australia even if it doesn't end up bringing it.

There's the seven-seat Tiggo 8 Pro due here in May, plus the mid-sized J7 from spinoff brand Jaecoo due here in the second half of 2024.
The former is a rival to the likes of the Mitsubishi Outlander, while the latter is being pitched as a "more premium product offering… targeted towards a more adventure focused consumer".
The Jaecoo J7, however, is sold as a Chery in China.
Stay tuned for more on the Omoda 7 as part of our Beijing motor show coverage.
