But they opened again yesterday with the Durham Street store now run by Eagle Boys’ corporate office.
Eagle Boys Pizza managing director and CEO Toddy Clayton yesterday confirmed all existing staff members were on board to ensure the store remains open.
Eagle Boys operates more than 335 franchised stores throughout Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, the ACT, and the Northern Territory.
They employ more than 8000 staff and make more than 18 million pizzas a year.
“We really value our regional stores and the community involvement and support that is intrinsic in the local area,” Mr Clayton said.
“Eagle Boys Pizza is Australia’s second largest pizza maker and is 100 per cent Australian-owned.”
Bathurst’s other pizza chains benefited from the temporary closure with staff run off their feet.
On Tuesday in particular business was booming as it is one of the busiest nights of the week.
One customer called Eagle Boys on Tuesday night and received a recorded message saying the store was closed. At 7.07pm she rang Pizza Hut to be told by staff they had run out of dough.
Wondering what was going on the customer contacted Dominos Pizza where staff was so busy she was warned there would be quite a long wait.
Not surprisingly it wasn’t long before that store had also run out of thick pizza bases and staff had only thin and crispy bases left to offer customers.
