There are categories to cater for all ages and abilities, including the schools section with the team from All Saints’ College keen to mount a serious challenge for victory.
Edgell Jog committee member Julie Cole says her favourite section is for the school.
“The school section at the Bathurst Edgell Jog encourages children to get involved, either by running or walking the course with school friends within the 90 minute cut-off and at the same time helps their school be in the running for a $200 prize,” Mrs Cole said.
There are three school sections – high school, primary school and small schools – and the winning school is based on the number of participants based as a percentage of total school enrolments.
All Saints’ College has been in touch with the committee confirming their interest in the 2011 event.
Head of School Dr Peter Miller said the school are grateful to be part of such a fantastic community event.
“It has motivated our students and staff to be more active over the colder winter months and we’re looking forward to joining in with the hundreds of other locals in tackling the course,” he said.
“We have students from both our junior and senior school participating – some running some walking. Our emphasis is being involved and doing your best. The local organising committee should be congratulated on staging such a well run event that delivers tremendous benefits for the Bathurst community”.
