Bathurst’s answer to the Big Day Out, the buzz behind this year’s festival is set to explode at 1pm today at the bottom of Mount Panorama.
Putting the Vanessa Amorosi rumour to rest, Sydney act Sparkadia will headline Village Fair 2011 with supporting acts such as Papa Vs Pretty, DJ Sampology, Ball Park Music, Bang Gang Deejays, and Owl Eyes, to please even the fussiest of music fans.
Sparkadia, the project of alternative pop musician Alex Burnett, is running off their Great Impression album and Mary Tour, and has already increased the calibre of this year’s festival.
Performances by local bands JakobY, RB and The Dangerous Spooky Men, Peacock Dreams, The Ruminators and Gunface, will showcase what Bathurst has to offer musically.
With Bathurst businesses rallying behind the event, and some budget adjustments, Village Fair co-ordinator Emma Bianco said VF 2011 will be the biggest and best yet.
“This year we really focused on bringing in bigger bands,” Emma said. “With the help of Spotlight we were able to focus more on site decoration and therefore create an element of art in the event.”
There are also some new features this year.
“We will be setting up a dance tent, which has never been done before.
“Security will definitely be tighter this year to ensure the safety of all attendees.”
Tickets will remain on sale until 8pm tonight.
