Tuesday's Individual Stableford on November 10 for Gloucester Veteran Golfers was won by Steve Horworth with a handsome score of 41 Stableford points. The event was sponsored by Joost and Bonnie Werz. The weather was conducive of good scores with a big field of 30 golfers, unhappily with nary a women veteran golfer in sight. Conditions were warm with a light breeze and very little cloud cover. The course was an absolute picture. Following close behind winner Steve was former vet's skipper Bill Murray with a rare burst of form on 39 points. The ball competition saw balls won by Dave Salmon 37 points, Glyn Rees 36, Phil Hawkins 35 and Jim Russell and Rick Paff both with 34 points on a count back from each other and the field. The nearest-to-the-pin at the combined 4th and 13th holes was the day's winner, Steve Hurworth with Peyter McIntyre picking up the trophy for his shot at the 6th and 15th holes. Cole Roser won the stayer's award for the day. Next week's event on Tuesday November 17, is an Individual Stableford with the presentation courtesy of the Veteran Golfers; the event will be followed by a barbecue lunch.
