About 200 Spyder riders are expected in Bathurst for the Spyderfest Veterans Salute from September 7-9, including a show and shine on the Sunday afternoon.
Council’s traffic committee agreed in July to a two-hour closure of Russell Street between George and William streets for the show and shine but councillors have knocked back a request from the organisers to waive around $2000 in fees for the event.
Councillors routinely agree to waive costs in these matters but voted during the August monthly meeting to support the recommendation of council staff to reject a waiver in this case.
There was no discussion of the matter.
