The new logo, as well as the motto ‘Together in Excellence’ will be officially launched at a celebratory event at the school on Friday, November 30.
Bathurst West Public School principal Darren Denmead said it was time to introduce new branding that reflected the school's present day culture.
“We surveyed staff, kids, parents, and a few businesses to get a feel of what the school meant to the wider community,” Mr Denmead said.
“The new motto reflects a school that is working really hard, but doing so together in a positive learning environment.”
The branding will replace the existing logo and motto ‘Manners Maketh Man,’ both of which have been in place since the school opened in 1954.
Mr Denmead, who was a student himself at Bathurst West in the 1970s, says the results from the survey made it clear that the existing branding no longer resonated with the school's community.
“As both a former student and the current principal, I can’t even tell what the current logo or motto means,” he said.
Developing the new branding has been a three and a half year journey for Bathurst West, and Mr Denmead said that the response to the rebrand has been overwhelmingly positive.
“The perception of our school has been slowly changing over the years, and the community is now focusing more on our strong academic image,” he said.
“The staff and students are very excited to see how their input has contributed to our new image.”
