Since 2013, the LEAP program has been run by the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre [BMEC] in order to promote young musicians aged 13 to 25 around town.
The LEAP program was launched as part of the Inland Sea of Sound Festival, and in 2017, the Bathurst RSL Club began to sponsor the initiative.
BMEC creative producer Kylie Shead, who runs the LEAP program, says the program is ideal for young musicians wanting to gain experience with performing.
“The performance skills these young people will learn will assist them throughout their lives, whether they choose to become professional musicians or not,” Ms Shead said.
“I can’t wait to see what these young people achieve in the future.”
The LEAP program has already received acclaim this year for its presence at the Spring Spectacular, Artstate Bathurst, and BMEC’s Monthly Band Nights.
LEAP artists will be performing today at Piccolo’s [2pm-4pm] and Webb & Co [5pm-8pm], tomorrow at the Mad Season Café [10am-1pm] and Sunday at The Hub [12pm-2pm].
