One of those horses who falls into the latter category is Paul Theobald’s Dunderry who won his first race since ANZAC Day 2016 in last Saturday’s success on his home track.
It had been a luckless run of campaigns for the veteran sprinter. He had placed on many occasions but struggled to hold onto top spot.
Coming back to the picnic level means Dunderry will be shouldering extra weight but he’s no stranger to 60 kilogram-and-beyond territory.
He takes on the Benchmark 50 Handicap (1100m) to close out the meeting.

Roy McCabe’s Arrow Haze made a winning start to her career in Dubbo’s picnic meet earlier this month but struggled with the rise in grade for her second run.
She comes back to the picnic scene in the longer Benchmark 50 Handicap (1700m) edition.
Arrow Haze is joined in that race by Dean Mirfin’s Kind Reward.
The five-year-old was mowed down in the closing stages of his home run on Saturday, finishing sixth but only one and a half lengths off the pace.
Theobald has the remaining chance, Red Marauder, taking on the Class 1 Handicap (950m).
Red Marauder finished last in the same event as Kind Reward and will be chasing improvement for his third start this preparation.
Racing starts 2.03pm.
