HE might be hampered by what he jokingly refers to as ‘old man’s hip’, but for spectators watching Mark Windsor tackle round two of the Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Club’s season on Sunday it was impossible to tell.

Windsor backed up his opening round win over the short course 300 metres swim, 16 kilometre cycle, 2.5km run by prevailing again on Sunday.
While he was 20 seconds behind Tom Hanrahan out of the water and conceded another 19 seconds in transition one, Windsor’s strong cycle and run legs gave him the nod.
“I’ve got old man’s hip, so I just do a sneaky event, I’m trying to ease my run down to see if I can get rid of this pain,” he said.
“The trouble is I get out there go full gas once I do go out there,” he added with a laugh.

“But I’ve changed my training, I try not to put any stress on it in training so I can come out and do these sort of things. If I warm it up, and the run leg is the last one, I don’t really notice it to be honest.
“I’ve just got to be a bit careful, so I’ve opted to go back to the short, but that’s still good for me anyway.
“Last time I did one we had Hobo [Richard Hobson] in there and this time there was Tommy [Tom Hanrahan], so it’s not like I can roll back and have an easy one, there are some really good athletes in there.”
Hanrahan was the quickest in the pool as he covered the distance in five minutes, five seconds, but Windsor’s noted talent on the bike saw a lead change.
