A key strength of Vivability as a business is ensuring their clients engage with the community through a variety of partnerships with local businesses.

These partnerships encourage clients to learn some unique skills and open new windows of opportunity for career progression.

Vivability has presented plaques of appreciation to the many businesses that have helped their clients prosper throughout the year.

“It’s about saying thank you and giving back to the people that have given us their time and allowed our clients to gain important life experiences,” Vivability community access manager Ruth Thurtell said.

Come Box With Me Fitness Hub, a key supporter of Vivability, runs a boxing program with around 10 to 12 clients each week.

“Fitness is something that can be enjoyed by persons of any ability, and we’ve found a special way to do that through teaching boxing,” Come Box With Me Fitness Hub owner Steve Browne said.

Ivory Rose Botanicals welcomes Vivability clients each week to help with the florist’s general operations.

“They’re quite a big asset to our company, and we have a lot of regulars who come in just to see the girls,” Ivory Rose Botanicals owner Maddy Veitch said.

Bridges Financial Services has encouraged Vivability clients to enhance their self-presentation skills through a mock interview process, and has resulted in a client gaining employment with the business.

Other vital Vivability partners include Family First Credit Union, Bathurst Learn to Drive, The Persuader, Bernardi’s Bathurst, Bathurst Wholefood Co-Op and Bedwells Feed Barn.

In addition, Vivability has thanked Lyn Chapman for running a weekly cooking class, Lee Meyers for her creative arts program and Abby Smith for running music sessions with clients.

“Disability inclusion is an important part of community development, and people of all abilities should have access to socially expected activities and experiences,” Ms Thurtell said.

Catering for around 160 clients and employing around 150 staff, Vivability plays a major hand in ensuring persons with a disability in the Central West achieve life-affirming goals and realise their core strengths.

“The assistance from local business has been invaluable in developing our specialist services and we hope to continue to promote partnerships with Vivability in 2019,” Vivability chief executive officer Nick Packham said.
