They dressed up as Santa and Mrs Claus, before hopping in their decorated 1956 Chevy Bel Air and visiting different parts of Bathurst.
“We have lived in Bathurst almost four years now. At our previous home, on Christmas Eve Santa would visit the children of the area in a fire truck, with lights flashing and bells ringing,” Mrs Buhagiar said.
“I was remembering those happy times a couple of weeks ago and said to [my] hubby ‘You should dress up as Santa and I can be Mrs Claus and we will drive around town in the Chevy’.
“Joe has been Santa a few times over the years and loves to see the smiles on the kids’ faces.”
To make sure people knew Santa and Mrs Claus would be about, an announcement was put on the Bathurst Our Town Facebook page.
The couple drove around Robin Hill first, ringing a bell out the car window as they passed people.
They also visited Eglinton, Windradyne and Marsden Estate, as well as a family in Keppel Street who were waiting patiently for Santa’s arrival.
“Some excited little girls were outside waiting for Santa to arrive with their new little puppy they wanted to show Santa,” Ms Buhagiar said of their visit to Windradyne.
“Their faces were priceless as Santa got out of the car; they were asking him what time the presents come to their house.”
Mrs Buhagiar wants to visit families again in the future.
“It was lovely to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, from small children to the elderly. They all were waving and happy to see Santa,” she said.
“Hopefully next year the streets can be filled with Christmas cheer again.”
