November 1: Denison College Bathurst High Campus Year 12 student Aidan McBurney was set to join a band of some of the state’s most accomplished musicians at this year’s Schools Spectacular. Aidan was preparing to perform at the Spectacular for the third year in a row.

November 2: A man who held up a Bathurst pharmacist at knifepoint to feed his drug addiction will spend at least 21 months in jail. Lawrence Trindall, 26, was sentenced in the Bathurst District Court before Judge O’Connor on charges of armed robbery and larceny.
November 5: Forty new jobs had been created at jails across the Central West, with more than half the positions being based in the Bathurst region. Specialised case workers had been appointed as part of a plan to reduce recidivism, with Bathurst jail getting an addition seven case workers, three at Oberon Correctional Centre, five at Kirkconnell Correctional Centre and six at Lithgow.
November 6: A 13-year-old boy was one of two people charged following a messy melee at Bathurst Aquatic Centre. And more arrests were expected after the incident, involving police and a group of poolgoers, spilled into the McDonald’s car park.
November 7: Bathurst Health Service general manager Cathy Marshall had conceded the need to improve the hospital’s culture following allegations of workplace bullying from a former director of the intensive care unit. In a strongly worded letter to the Western Advocate, Professor Brendan Smith said the issue of bullying extended to the Western NSW Local Health District and Bathurst Base Hospital, in particular.
November 8: The popularity of the Bathurst Aqua Park over summer was likely determine whether or not Chifley Dam will be afforded more car parking facilities. The long-awaited inflatable water park had its grand opening over the weekend, seeing around 250 people attend on each day.
November 10: Pet chickens belonging to the kids at Goodstart Kelso had been stolen and everyone is gutted. Monique Meekin, who works at the early childhood education centre, said both the staff and children were shocked and saddened when they went to check on the chickens on Friday morning and found all four were missing.
November 12: Barring some kind of miracle, Bathurst was set to face water restrictions in two weeks. At their October ordinary meeting, councillors, although some reluctantly, resolved to implement water restrictions if Chifley Dam did not reach 75 per cent capacity by November 12.
November 13: It could one day be possible for people to securely store the ashes of their loved ones on Mount Panorama. At Wednesday’s meeting of Bathurst Regional Council, councillor Warren Aubin proposed that a niche wall be added to the Mount for the internment of ashes.
November 14: Bathurst Regional Council had responded angrily to a proposal from Property NSW for it to buy the old ambulance station on William Street for “market value”. The 90-year-old building will be vacated early next year when NSW Ambulance staff move to their new home currently under construction on Commonwealth Street.
November 16: A garbage truck driver was forced to dump a full load of recycling after it caught alight inside the truck. The quick action of the driver pulling off the road and dumping the rubbish has been commended by firefighters, who said the whole truck would have gone up in flames without his evasive action.
November 19: Bathurst Regional Council meetings will be live streamed into lounge rooms across the region within 12 months. Under the new Model Code of Meeting Practice released by Local Government Minister Gabrielle Upton, all councils have just a year to start webcasting their meetings to allow residents greater access to proceedings.
November 20: An anonymous caller to Crime Stoppers said they knew who had stabbed to death homeless Bathurst man Reg Mullaly - even before police had determined how he’d died. An inquest into the 2015 murder Mr Mullaly opened in Orange and heard evidence that the person named in the call to Crime Stoppers remained a person of interest in the case.
November 22: Local gardeners had been left puzzled by the Bathurst Regional Council’s decision to implement level three water restrictions in the region from next Monday, November 26. With the water level of the Ben Chifley Dam sitting at 57.8 per cent as of November 20, the water restrictions were brought in by the council to safeguard Bathurst’s water supply after two years of below average rainfall.
November 24: Councillors agreed to pay tribute to all members of the Manning family in the new name for Bathurst Aquatic Centre. When John Manning, the pool manager for 32 years, died in September, a community campaign began to name the centre in honour of him and his wife, Nina.
November 27: A decision not to send the nearest NSW Rural Fire Service brigade to respond to a car fire had been slammed by one of the residents who reported it. Wattle Flat resident Jim Jordan was travelling to Bathurst at around 5.20am on Monday when he came across a car well alight at Wiagdon.
November 29: The NSW Government announced a $2.25 million upgrade to Bathurst’s Winburndale Dam, which will help safeguard the site’s water supply for years to come. The proposed works would see improvements to the dam wall and enhanced accessibility to the site.
November 30: Devro had begun consulting with employees at its Kelso site on a restructure that may lead to as many as 10 redundancies over the next six months.
