Rain left the Sportsground unusable for the teams’ opening two-day fixture of the Bathurst District Cricket Association first grade season but there will be no such trouble this weekend.
Colts captain Matt Stephen said last week’s decision to abandon play didn’t take long to reach.
“Each club has members from the grounds committee. I went to meet them down there and have a look and it was a pretty easy decision really,” he said.
“The water tends to lay on the pitch at the Sportsground because it won’t drain. The water’s got to go somewhere and it tends to go to the run ups.”
However, a lot can change in a week.

After virtually no rain and blistering temperatures leading up to the second week of action there’s certain to be cricket going ahead.
The top-of-the-table game gives Colts the opportunity to jump Redbacks in the standings if they can turn around the opening round defeat they suffered at the hands of Bathurst City.
Jaden Ekert scored a century for Colts in that match but received little help throughout the order in the Loco Oval game.
Redbacks used their successful chase to kick start a three game winning streak to begin the season.
There’s no bonus points available, due to one-day points being enforced for the single day’s play, putting plenty on the line in an all-or-nothing setup.
Several Colts players will be hoping for a winning double this weekend as they prepare to back up for Sunday’s Western Zone Premier League game.
Colts have the largest share of players in the contest with Cowra, with Ekert, Henry Shoemark, Stephen, Dave Henderson and Wayne Sellers all named to play.
