The match between Bathurst and Orange will contribute to both the Mitchell Presidents Cup and Western Zone Premier League competitions, a result vital for both competitions.
A win for Bathurst would cement a spot in the final of the Presidents Cup on February 24, while a win in Premier League will put Bathurst in the mix for a top two spot.
Orange will prove to be a familiar opposition for Bathurst on Sunday, Bathurst having faced the team from the colour city in the Mitchell T20 Cup on February 27.
When the two sides clash this Sunday, Bathurst skipper Jameel Qureshi is hoping that his side will show more respect to its opposition compared to last Sunday.
“Orange play well as a team and we can’t play the way we did against them last week,” he said.
“We didn’t show them the respect they deserved and we need to do that if we want to win.”
Bathurst have three changes to its squad compared to last Sunday’s Mitchell T20 Cup match, with Aditya Adley, Matt Stephen and Ethan Ivory all out, as Jaden Ekert, Dave Henderson and Mitch Taylor coming in.
“Jaden is pretty experienced and when he gets going he can be pretty exciting. If he bats for 15 to 20 overs, he can set you up nicely,” Qureshi said.
“Henderson is another experienced player, who is really solid with the bat.”
There’s four changes to the Orange line-up, Nick Dunlop, Ryan Kurtz, Charlie Greer and Angus Cumming all out, the quartet scoring a combined 26 runs between them against Bathurst in the Mitchell T20 Cup.
Replacing the four is Kaleb Cook, Bailey Ferguson, Lachey Coyte and Ed Dodds.
Qureshi wants his side to focus on playing their game.
“It’s just going to be the same thing as last week; we want to play our game,” he said.
“But this time we want to get the win.
“We’ll miss Matt Stephen. He’s unavailable because his son is playing cricket.”
Sunday’s game will get underway at 10am, the same time the other Presidents Cup match between Lithgow and Blue Mountains, at the Tony Luchetti Showground, will get underway.
The only other Western Zone Premier League game on the same time is the Cowra versus Dubbo match at Holman Oval.
