There are a variety of reasons why so many race fans are drawn to the 12 Hour, but most tend to agree that the event offers a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
Scott Starkey-Brown and Martin Goode were down from Brisbane attending the race, and said the event provides a rather wholesome experience.
“It’s a bit more relaxed than the Bathurst 1000,” Mr Starkey-Brown said.
“The class of the cars are much better in comparison to the V8’s,” Mr Goode added.
Visiting from Sydney’s northern beaches were Christian Fischer and Stephen Burns, who commented on the event’s immense international appeal.
“There’s drivers from a number of different GT series’ worldwide that want to come over and race the Mount, which I find is good for the sport,” Mr Burns said.
“The cars are more relevant too, as they’re actually vehicles you can go and buy,” Mr Fischer added.
Racing events are never complete without the many different stalls selling merchandise, and stallholder Fred Nugent regularly finds himself attending Supercars events.
“There’s nothing like that moment the 12 Hour starts early in the morning,” Mr Nugent said.
“It’s certainly different to the other events.”
