They not only got that breakthrough - they got two of them.

Current Bathurst under 12s representatives Cooper Stephen (10) and Blayde Burke (11) impressed in their latest round of trials at Lismore to book a spot in the team to contest October's NSW PSSA Cricket Championships.

The pair have been standout performers for Bathurst's red hot under 12s side and have carried that form across their trials at Dubbo and Lismore.

St Philomena's sports coordinator Jacob Parslow said it's a wonderful moment for the school to see two of it's sports stars reach new heights.

"We haven't had anyone reach Polding in cricket over my time there, which is for at least six years," he said.

"It's an amazing achievement because from some of the kids who trialled last year I've heard it's been really hard because of the level of cricket at the moment.

"When they select a team from Bathurst [diocese] they don't actually take a full team, they only select the players who they think are ready.

"When they go to Polding they get put up against all the other kids and it's sink or swim in a way."

Swim ahead, they did.

Stephen has picked up a wicket in all his Mitchell Cricket Council games this season and boasts a batting average of 51.

Burke has claimed seven wickets across the same competition at an average of just 5.1.

The duo have also shined at the next level for the representative Mitchell team.

Stephen reached the 40s on two occasions and Burke had figures of 2-11 in Mitchell's big win over Macquarie.

What makes their achievement all the more impressive is that cricket is one of just several sports Stephen and Burke excel at.

"Cooper is an amazing swimmer who has competed at state. Blayde had to pick between trialling for cricket or basketball because he's unreal at both," Parslow said.

"They've represented the school in AFL, rugby union and rugby league so they're great sporting all-rounders.

"We're half the size of most other schools. To have two kids make the Polding team and compete at state is unreal."
