Bathurst has secured its third major lottery prize in the space of a month, with one lucky local picking up the $200,000 first prize in Wednesday's Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw number 1234.
It was an unregistered entry purchased at NewsPower Bathurst in the Stockland Shopping Centre, and staff can't wait to meet the winner.
Acting manager Colin McManus said there had been a steady stream of people checking their tickets since news of the win starting circulating on Wednesday but all had walked away disappointed so far.
"We're anticipating that lucky person coming back in and we look forward to celebrating with them," Mr McManus said.
This week's lottery win comes after a Bathurst tradie won $200,000 on the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot last week and four weeks after a Bathurst couple became instant millionaires with a $20 million Oz Lotto windfall on January 29.
A spokesperson for The Lott said it was unusual to see such a run of good luck in one city, but not unheard of.
"Lucky Lotteries is a national draw but it is most popular in NSW because it was the lottery that funded the Sydney Opera House and there is a long history here," she said.
"So we do sometimes see it happen in NSW.
"The message is, if you have a ticket check it now because the winner is out there somewhere."
The $5 winning ticket was likely purchased in the past week.
