He was a well-known Bathurst identity beloved by children and adults alike. He belonged to Brendan Cashen from Bill's Pet Paradise.
For many years, Fuzz spent his days lounging on the sidewalk in the sun, where he grudgingly received pats from countless locals and visitors.
He often came across as a sage feline whose sphinx-like pose surveyed shoppers and pedestrians who might lack his particular kind of local knowledge and street smarts.
In his later years, he found daytime solace in Dejorja, a homewares and dress shop where he loved sleeping on its soft bags, cushions, rugs and lounges. He particularly loved the dressing-room area, where he curled up oblivious to pesky humans trying on clothes.
I loved Fuzz's chilled-out attitude: his daytime naps would never be interrupted by attention from random suitors. He would steadfastly keep his eyes closed, knowing he was the centre of attention.
Fuzz had white paws that contrasted with his beautiful grey coat.
His white whiskers added to the charm of his appearance. His facial expressions did not change much from his usual look of knowing grumpiness.
Sadly, he died doing something uncharacteristic active - pursuing another cat across the street, where he was hit by a car.
Fuzz will be greatly missed. It is known that even out-of-towners have made special journeys to Keppel Street to meet this unique feline identity.
Fuzz was 11 and a half years old and will never be forgotten.
