A MAN has been charged with assaulting police and attempting to resist arrest at a Bathurst pub on Thursday night.

Just before 10pm on April 25, two male senior constables attached to Chifley Police District saw a man they believed to be intoxicated attempting to gain entry to licensed premises on William Street.
The officers spoke with security, resulting in the 20-year-old man being refused entry.
The man allegedly become verbally aggressive towards police before he was issued a move-on direction.
Police will allege the man pushed and punched both officers before pepper spray was deployed.
The man was arrested with assistance from a member of the public.
He was taken to Bathurst police station where he was charged with two counts of assaulting police, resisting arrest and failing to quit.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Bathurst Local Court on Monday, June 3.
Both officers were treated at Bathurst police station for minor lacerations.
