After discovering the Mystery Box Rally, Lutz Duddek and his 26-year-old daughter Candice decided to team up to go in it.
The rally is unique: teams know they will be departing from Byron Bay on August 17 and arriving back there on August 21, but where they drive on the five days in between is a mystery.
Teams only find out the day's route and destination each morning.
All cars entered must be 25 years or older and teams have to raise a minimum of $3500 to participate.
It's the latter that has led the Duddek family to reach out for help.

The Perthville family have already raised $3000 on their own and are hoping people can help them raise at least another $500.
Tracey Duddek said her husband and daughter had a personal reason for going in the rally.
"They decided that they'd do it because Candice's granddad died of a brain tumour and another cancer. We didn't know about it until after he had a fall," she said.
If they can raise enough to start the rally, the Duddeks will be driving a 1984 dual-cab Toyota Hilux.
They've had help from several businesses and business owners in the region to get the car in shape for the trip, including Scott Inwood of iiTechnology and Damien Grant of Bathurst Auto Parts.
"We're just mainly getting the car mechanically sound and hopefully it makes it the whole way round," Ms Duddek said.
Anyone who would like to donate to help the Duddeks reach the minimum fundraising total can do so online at 2019.mysteryboxrally.com.au/team-little
"We just need a little bit of a helping hand to get over the line," Mrs Duddek said.
"We would also love someone to sponsor the fuel costs if someone was in a position to do that, and that is tax deductible."
While they need $3500 to start the rally, the Duddeks ultimately hope to raise $5000 for the cause.
Overall, the Mystery Box Rally has raised more than $725,000 this year, with a goal of reaching $1 million in total to donate to cancer research.
