THERE were ample missed scoring opportunities from CSU in Sunday's Bathurst District Football women's premier league meeting against Mudgee Wolves on Sunday but thankfully for the Vixens it didn't come back to bite them.

CSU came away 3-1 winners thanks to a first half brace from Emily Thurlow and a second half strike from Annabel Meadley.
The margin could have extended in the second half if not for disappointing CSU finishes at the end of promising passages of play.
Wolves managed to keep pace with the students for the opening half hour of the match before CSU began to assert their control at Proctor Park
The win keeps CSU well in the hunt for a top two finish while Mudgee faces an uphill battle to crack a crucial top four position.
Following the scrappy success CSU co-coach Brady Evans was happy to live by the phrase 'a win's a win'.
"You can't be upset with three points in the bag. It would have been nice to put a few more away," he said.
"We had our old boys and girls day last night so we might have been a bit worse for wear with that on. We probably lacked a bit of energy and intensity but we got away with it.
"The goals that we scored in the first half came from playing through the middle and using those triangles. Our moving and passing up the field was great."
CSU created the opening genuine opportunity of the match when Sarah Evans latched onto a Mimi Rayner through ball down the left wing in the eighth minute.
Evans shot from a tough angle went into the hands of waiting goalkeeper Sophie Plummer.
Over the next 20 minutes Wolves began to work their way back in the possession stakes, leading to several chances.

Their second corner of the match somehow didn't find the back of the net when it sailed through a stack of players inside the box.
Thurlow put a dampener on Mudgee's day with a cracking opening goal.
The Rayner-Evans combination linked up again down the wing to provide the breakthrough in the 33rd minute.
Evans crossed the ball to the top of the box to Thurlow who spun off her defender and fired a shot to the right side of goal that thundered off the post into the back of the net.
Just three minutes later Thurlow had her second goal when a shot from the top right corner of the box took a deflection over the goalkeeper.
CSU found their third goal in the 53rd minute when Annabel Meadley's long range stinger wasn't handled well by the Mudgee keeper.
Mudgee took less than half a minute to respond when Lucy Sebelic finished off a cross from close range.
However, the goal didn't lift the Wolves.
The visitors spent the rest of the match trying to hold out CSU's Kelly Baker and Thurlow, who both failed to extend the lead with several missed opportunities.
