So Parade reckons any new business willing to open their doors and have a crack at success deserves the community's support.
With that in mind, Bathurst is preparing to welcome The Big Outlet toy store to the CBD.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Signage has already gone up at 100 William Street, next to the Bathurst Real Estate office in what used to be the Kelly + Partners premises.
It appears the store, which will open soon, will sell a range of big brand toys including Lego, Ravensburger Puzzles and John Deere kids' products.
With a little digging, Parade was able to ascertain that The Big Outlet started in Orange in February before embarking an its expansion into Bathurst.
We'll be watching carefully to see how they go.
Sydney Weekender's tasting tour of Bathurst
WHO caught a couple of Bathurst's newer eateries on Saturday's edition of Sydney Weekender on Channel 7?
Reporter Matt Baseley brought a camera crew came to town recently to try some of the wares at Dogwood, BX and Vine And Tap - and he was very clearly impressed.
First Mr Baseley had lunch at Dogwood, BX where he sampled starters of buffalo wings and deep-fried pickles before moving on to the Dogwood Deluxe Burger for main.
He also sampled the baby back ribs with barbecue sauce, North Carolina pork belly and a smoked porterhouse steak.
And for something sweet? Mr Baseley decided against the traditional desserts and finished off his lunch with a Jack Daniel's and maple syrup espresso martini - before heading for an afternoon siesta.
That evening the crew was at Vine And Tap where Mr Baseley sampled a number of the Italian share plates, including an antipasto platter, fried buffalo mozzarella, wild mushroom arancini and, finally, the house-made gnocchi with Italian sausage and sage in a burnt butter sauce.
"It's an absolute gnocch-out," Mr Baseley said.
"So next time you want to take your tastebuds travelling, come to Bathurst. Bring your friends, bring your family and feast it up."
Couldn't have put it better ourselves.
