A grass fire which was burning at Wiagdon north of Bathurst is now listed as being under control by NSW Rural Fire Service crews.

Firefighters are working to contain an out-of-control grass fire burning north of Bathurst.
The blaze ignited off Sofala Road at Wiagdon just before midday on Tuesday and was spread by gusty winds in the area.
"Crews are containing the fire and will black out once they have the containment in place," NSW RFS district co-ordinator Mick Holland said.

"The landowner was caught by a sudden wind gust."
Data from the Bureau of Meteorology shows wind gusts of up to 20km/h at Bathurst Airport this afternoon.

FIREFIGHTERS are responding to an out-of-control grass fire north of Bathurst.
NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) crews received the triple-0 call just before midday on Tuesday to a blaze burning off Sofala Road at Wiagdon.
NSW RFS Chifley/Lithgow Team operational officer Brett Taylor said four crews of firefighters are currently rushing to the scene.

"It was a notified burn that's escaped by the looks of it," he said.
At this stage firefighters do not know how big the fire is or how close to the property.

The fire is currently at 'advice' level and a further update will be provided once crews arrive on scene.
