The annual tomato growing competition has kicked off in Bathurst with the city's green thumbs urged to enter for a good cause.
Rules for the competition are simple - people can grow any variety of tomato by any method they choose, and the first one with a ripe tomato wins.
The fundraiser is organised by Robin Price from the Rotary Club of East Bathurst and the club will match any money raised dollar-for-dollar.
"We had 85 entries last year and the competition itself raised $500 and the Rotary Club matched that so we gave Daffodil Cottage $1000," he said.
"This year I'm hoping we'll get 100 entries."
Mr Price said he has been overwhelmed by the community's generosity and enthusiasm to take part in the competition since it first kicked-off in 2016.
"If you tell them you're raising money for charity they're not interested, but as soon as you say it's for Daffodil Cottage it's very different and they get involved," he said.
Competition participants are urged not to pick their tomato once it is ripe.
"If you think you have a ripe tomato, don't pick it. Tell someone else and if they agree, tell me," he said.
Entry is $5 and the prize is a $2 lottery ticket. All proceeds will go to Daffodil Cottage.
