Animal Welfare League NSW is a registered charity that has been caring for animals for over 60 years and aims to match all adoptable animals to the lifestyle of the right potential owner, ensuring a long and happy relationship for everyone involved.
President of the Bathurst branch, Milika Hayden, said the group became an official branch after their first AGM on October 26th.
She said the decision was made to establish a second branch in the Central West because demand at the Orange branch was high.
Ms Hayden said the Bathurst branch objectives for the next few months are to increase ties to the local community, undertake fundraising activities and increase our foster/volunteer network before we start taking animals in.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"This is all to ensure the branch has adequate helpers, fosters and funds for any situations that may arise."
"We want to increase community ties by getting more local businesses involved in what we do and in return supporting them back to the best of our abilities.
"We will be doing various fundraising activities to ensure we have sufficient funds for anything our future incoming fosters need such as their vet works, toys, food, bedding etc," she said.
Ms Hayden said the branch will always welcome new applications for helpers or fosters which is all voluntary.
"Helpers can do transport, admin or participate at events we host.
"Carers will be supported with food, bedding and vet work fees covered by the branch."
She said fostering is such a rewarding experience knowing you have positively impacted that animals life and helped them find their forever home.
"We are encouraging any business' that would like to help or an individual that would like to he a helper or foster please message our Facebook page, email milikahayden@awlnsw.com.au or phone 0447 357 259.
