WITH 10 minutes to go in last year's Bathurst 12 Hour, Matt Campbell made a bold inside passing move at Forrest's Elbow which gave him the race lead.

Soon after he stood alongside his team-mates Denis Olsen and Dirk Werner on the top step of the podium, hoisting aloft the winners' trophy and spraying champagne.
It was a brilliant manoeuvre which saw him snatch the lead from the R-Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage being driven by Jake Dennis and iced an impressive stint from the talent Australian driver.
It was not only a milestone moment in his career and for manufacturer Porsche, but a move which has gone into Bathurst 12 Hour folklore.
"It was very special the whole race because we were able to get the win with the last generation of that car. So to win the way we did and get Porsche's first win at the mountain was extremely special and I think it put me on the map of GT globally," Campbell said.
"For myself it was a big thing and people are still coming up to me and speaking to me about the pass.
"There's a funny story about that move actually. When we were doing the track walk on the Thursday with my team-mates, they'd never been there before, when we got to that corner I said 'Look this is a possible passing opportunity, it's difficult, but you know, it can happen'.
"That ended up what won us the race, so it's funny how it all worked out."
This year Campbell will attempt to add another 12 Hour success story to his resume, which not only includes last year's outright triumph, but class podiums in 2014, 2017 and 2018.
He will do so as part of the Absolute Racing outfit, Campbell to share his #911 Porsche GT3 R with Mathieu Jaminet and Patrick Pilet. He can't wait to try and emulate last year's effort on a track he loves.
"It's a little bit different myself as it's the first time I've come here as a factory Porsche driver. It's an exciting new challenge for us this year, we've got a brand new GT3 R compared to last year," he said.
"But in the end it's the same motivation and same approach to this race. I just love being back here, it's one of my favourite events coupled with my favourite race track.
"For me there's two standouts in the world, Bathurst for me is number one, it's my favourite race track in the entire world. The second after that is the Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany.
"Those two are my absolute favourites, but this one takes the cake. I've been coming here since I was four-years-old and lucky enough to drive around it when I was 15, so it has a special place in my heart."
The first practice session for this year's Bathurst 12 Hour commences at 8.40am Friday, while the race itself will be green lighted at 5.45am Sunday.
