Bathurst Regional Council's weekly dam level reading has found the region's main water storage is now sitting at 29.6 per cent capacity, up from 28.5 per cent a week ago.
It was the first time since October 10 last year that the weekly reading had recorded a rise, with hopes that more storms on Tuesday night will keep the inflows coming.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
At that stage the dam was sitting at 47 per cent capacity before it started a long, slow fall for most of spring and summer.
Chifley Dam now holds 8910 megalitres of water in storage, an increase of 342 megalitres over the week.
The rare good news at the dam comes as the Bathurst region prepares for the introduction of the next phase of water restrictions.
From Monday, February 24, residents will be barred from watering their gardens with hoses while a ban on all watering of lawns will remain in place.
