When One Penny ($3.10) came across from box eight to find the lead with ease in the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal Final (450 metres) the rest of the field were left to fight for the minor placings as the leader increased his margin every step.
One Penny earned connections a handy $3,500 for his victory, which came in a quick time of 25.79 - six hundredths quicker than his heat win a week earlier.
Winning trainer Lynn Maney has a high opinion of the black and white Fernando Bale dog, who is already turning heads just three races into his career.
"We're very happy with him. He's a very reliable beginner. It's such a quick time, especially over the first section. He's always shown ability from the moment we broke him in and we couldn't be happier with how he's going," she said.
"Starts like this don't happen very often, he's a lovely dog. I'm not sure if he's ready to take the step up to 500 yet. His best part of the race is the start but he's only young and we'll give him time, then we can look to go further.
"There's no real plans for him. He's won two races now so we'll look around and see if we can find a nice race for him. Hopefully he'll keep on going."
One Penny ran a 15.11 first sectional over the 450 distance, which was comfortably the fastest time of the meeting.
He won by just short of six lengths over Was Available ($34, Allan Laverty) who was a surprise runner-up ahead of Barry Bolt ($6.50, Raymond Smith).
