As a mother, the safety of my children when going on an outing is vital, especially with a child with additional needs.
It has come to my attention, after attending birthday parties at both of these locations, how unsafe they are.
Being on popular roads causes problems on its own, at Peace Park especially.
IN OTHER NEWS:
With the car park area, there is no way a car would see a small child in time to stop without causing an injury.
All small children like to run and some are quite fast. I watched a small child take off from their parent and they were just caught before running on to the road.
A fence, even a small one, or something is needed that would deter the children from being able to run out on to the road and into oncoming traffic.
Cameras on toilets and the barbecue areas are also needed to stop youths vandalising and setting fires.
I'm sure, with better safety apparatus put in place, the parks' use would go through the roof.
The main reason I stay away from parks is the lack of enclosure space and safety concerns.
With cars, it only takes a split second for something to go wrong.
I would hate for it to result in the death of a child whose parent was a second too slow chasing them and pulling them out of harm's way.
