A trough associated with Esther is set to create a sort of "atmospheric river" stretching from the north west of Western Australia to the country's south east, according to meteorologist Craig McIntosh from Weatherzone.
Who gets what will be determined by that trough's movement, but widespread rain in the state is expected, he said.

Mr McIntosh said rain can be expected to reach north and north west of Bathurst by early Tuesday afternoon and to "really kick in" in Bathurst by later in the afternoon or the evening.
He said there was some "model disagreement" in terms of totals, but 25 to 50mm was likely for Bathurst in the three days up to Friday.
"Nights will also be quite warm - five to six degrees higher than normal for this time of year," he said.
Mr McIntosh said the majority of the falls will be from rain as opposed to storms.
Any rain will be welcomed in the Bathurst district with Chifley Dam at 29.5 per cent.
