A HEARING date will be set next month for matters against a Bathurst real estate agent accused of stealing "for sale" signs and intimidating competitors.

Michael John Whittaker, 48, of James Barnett Drive, Kelso, did not appear before Bathurst Local Court on Monday for the mention.

His solicitor, Shane Cunningham, told the court his client had been excused on a previous occasion.

Whittaker has entered not guilty pleas to four counts of stalking and intimidating, fear physical harm (personal) along with four counts of larceny.

Police allege Whittaker intimidated Jay Cleary on March 18, 2019 and then later Jay Cleary and Sandy Fairbrother.

Police further allege that on December 6, December 19, and December 25, 2019 Whittaker stole three "for sale" signs with sold stickers on them, worth between $65 and $85 each, and a fourth "for sale" sign worth $65.

All the signs were the property of Cleary Fairbrother Property.

Whittaker was charged by police in January after an investigation by Bathurst detectives.

Police had been contacted by the complainants on December 30 last year.

Among the allegations being leveled at accused was a confrontation between Whittaker and one of the complainants.

On Monday, police prosecutor Sergeant Darren Pearce told the court the matter would require a hearing date of at least one day, and possibly two.

Magistrate Catherine Follent indicated any hearing lasting more than one day would require a special fixture date to be set.

Sgt Pearce told the court it was his understanding that there were 11 police witnesses and another four witnesses for the defence.

"I would imagine that will be more than one day," Ms Follent said.

Sgt Pearce sought a three-week adjournment, telling the court he would make further inquiries which could potentially shorten the hearing time required.

The matter is be back for mention on April 1, when a hearing date will be set.
