Ms Platt, secretary with the Bathurst Public School P and C for six years, was lauded for her willingness to roll up her sleeves.
The awards were held recently, where Ingrid Waite from Castle Hill High School was named the overall winner.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Bathurst Public School P and C president Luisa McDiarmid, in nominating Ms Platt for the award, praised her "professionalism, excellent time management" and communication skills.
"Every week, Tracey would write an article for the school newsletter, informing the school community of upcoming events, canteen news and other interesting P and C information," Ms McDiarmid said.
"Tracey is the type of person that if there is a gap to fill, she will do it. When there was no-one available to co-ordinate the Mother's Day stall and the family breakfast, she volunteered to do the task.
"This was a major fundraiser for the P and C with over $5000 generated as a result of these activities."
Ms McDiarmid also highlighted Ms Platt's passion for the importance of children's reading.
"This passion saw her initiate the revamping of our school library with a project value of over $20,000," Ms McDiarmid said.
"We were able to purchase modular lounge seating, colourful bookshelf ends, a new counter and table and chairs, plus artwork for the entrance."
Bathurst Public P and C vice-president Sueann Brown said it can be hard to find volunteers these days, but their contribution remains vital.
She said time was one of the main reasons organisations like the Bathurst P and C found it hard to get new faces.
"Everyone's busy," she said. "And people are scared, sometimes, that if they do volunteer, they will get lumped with doing everything."
But she said there were plenty of rewards: from feeling part of the school to seeing its internal workings to meeting new people.
"There are the friendships that you form with other parents," she said.
