As of Wednesday afternoon, just under 2000 riders have been registered to compete in events on March 14-15, including the B2B (formally the Blayney to Bathurst) on Sunday, both the criterium racing and hill climb events on Saturday.

Bathurst Cycling Classic events manager Hannah Welch said the event will provide a significant financial boost to the region.

"The cycling festival provides a significant boost to the local economy and the financial benefits of around $2 million extend throughout the Central West," she said.

A majority of the cyclists entered for the Bathurst Cycling Classic are from NSW, however, some riders will make the trip from other states and territories to compete.

Cyclists will have an option of completing either the 50 kilometre or 100 kilometre course in the B2B, with the event also acting as one of three Australian qualifying events for the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Canada in September.

A lap of Mount Panorama to start the 100km long course event and a finish line in the CBD are the main features of the new Bathurst Cycling Classic routes this year.

Bathurst cycling champion Mark Renshaw has designed the new 100 kilometre B2B course in the first major change in the event's 15-year history.

All previous B2Bs have started in Blayney and ended in Bathurst.

Registrations close on Wednesday, March 11, for the B2B, criterium racing and hill climb.

Last year, Sam Hill won the 110 kilometre long course event, finishing in a time of two hours, 31 minutes and 53 seconds, after four riders were taken to hospital after an accident on the B2B course.
