Mitchell Conservatorium is set to host its annual picnic dinner next Saturday, with members of the community with an interest in music encouraged to get involved.
The free event, which will be held on the front lawn of the Bathurst Court House, will include performances from a wide range of the conservatorium's ensembles, including Mitchell Strings and PUBlic Choir.
In addition, an 'Instrument Petting Zoo' will be set up for children and parents to try out instruments taught at the conservatorium.
Executive director Graham Sattler the said is an opportunity for the conservatorium to demonstrate their music knowledge and expertise with the wider community.
"It's essentially an open day where we welcome the community into our environment and showcase what we offer in the realm of music," Mr Sattler said.
"We're all about community engagement, and these events help us unearth musicians with potential."
With the conservatorium celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Mr Sattler said the event will reiterate the organisation's role in fostering and promoting music in the Central West.
"The date of next week's picnic [March 21], will mark 40 years to the day that we moved in to our present building," he said.
"While there's some present difficulties around looking for a new home, we want to make it clear that we're proud of our history and Bathurst's support over the years, and we're always open to any feedback."
The picnic dinner will get under way next Saturday from 6pm.
