Rotary Club of Bathurst East public relations and membership director Greg Madden says the club has, in recent years, adopted a practice of awarding certificates of appreciation to people in the community who make a difference.
"Some of these are for one-off events, but some are to acknowledge an extended period of doing a great job for, and in, the community," he said.
A recent presentation was made to Mr and Mrs Forbutt following their retirement from full-time work in their pharmacy late last year.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"Many members of the Rotary Club of Bathurst East use Forbutt's as their pharmacy of choice, and have done so for extended periods," Mr Madden said.
"In view of their retirement, the members decided to make an award to them."
Club past president Peter Keith presented the certificate to pharmacist Mrs Forbutt.
"Robert Forbutt was not present in the shop at the time, but was very much included in the presentation for his role over the years as manager, front of house," Mr Madden said.
"Club members wish them well in their retirement, but were pleased to see them back in the shop.
"Both were well, and reported that the shop was functioning very well without them, and so the family tradition carries on."
