Nikki's Cafe on William opened at the start of 2019, the first cafe out west for Pino and Nikki Calabro, after running several similar businesses in Sydney.
It's been a challenge for the co-owners.

"Sales have gone down. That's how it is all over the world at the moment," Mr Calabro said.
"It's not been too bad here, though, because we're doing takeaway food.
"We do have some loyal customers, but we've lost the dine-in customers, which was always a big part of our business.
"We were open all over Easter. We couldn't do anything else and otherwise I would've sat in front of the idiot box."

Mr Calabro said the difficulty with being a freshly established business is that local cafe customers already have their routine.
"We're a new business, being only a year old, and it's hard when people have their local cafes they go to," he said.
"In Sydney, people would tend to share it around, but in regional communities, it's different."
