The tender was awarded to Bridge and Marine Engineering Pty Ltd for $789,848.40 at council's meeting in March.
Council's director of engineering services Darren Sturgiss said the project is expected to take around six months to complete.
"Construction is expected to commence in May-June 2020 with preparation for side track including blasting to rock shelf to northern bridge approach," Mr Sturgiss said.
The new bridge will replace the former Howards Bridge, which was washed away during a freak storm in January 2019.
A temporary bridge was erected soon after, which will remain in place throughout the duration of construction.
Mr Sturgiss said the design of the new bridge will safeguard it from future storm events.
"The new bridge will be 2.5 metres higher than the previous bridge destroyed in the January 2019 flood event," he said.
"This increased height will reduce the likelihood of the bridge becoming submerged during flood events and is to be designed to withstand flood events and damage due to flood water and debris."
Council was awarded $1.7 million in funding from the federal government's Natural Disaster Release and Recovery Arrangements Program to build the replacement bridge in March last year.
"I would like to thank the Federal Government for supporting this project," Bathurst mayor Bobby Bourke said.
"This will allow council to design and construct a sturdy new bridge for residents who live in the area that will last well into the future."
Other infrastructure projects high on council's agenda include CCTV, Winburndale Dam wall strengthening works, the Suttor-Mitre-Lambert roundabout and the Mount Panorama Boardwalk.
