But now the man who booted five goals in the Tigers' 2019 AFL grand final win over GWS will tackle the slopes Mount Panorama himself in the Supercars' virtual celebrity race.
And like his good mate, DJR Team Penske star Scott McLaughlin did last year in the Great Race, Riewoldt wants to conquer the Mount.
He has already spent time in a simulator this week and is being instructed by Super2 regular Thomas Randle, who placed ninth in last year's Bathurst 1000 alongside Lee Holdsworth.
"When I heard about the celebrity race my immediate thought was 'How can I get in this field?'," Riewoldt told speedcafe.com
"I love everything about the sport and I admire the drivers and the crews so much and to have a few hours on the Dream Simulator with Thomas was an absolute thrill.
"I'm not lying, I deadset struggled to sleep after the session on the sim.
"All I was thinking about was braking spots and gear changes, it was so much fun."
After posting "Trying to conquer the Mountain" with a photo of himself in the simulator on Instagram, Riewoldt enjoyed some banter with McLaughlin.
After the Supercars defending champion quipped: "Of course you genuinely think you are a race driver now", Riewoldt countered with "This isn't some kick over the Yarra type of setup mate."
Riewoldt was amongst the first eight celebrities revealed for the race, which was originally announced for May 12 but will now be contested on May 18.
Former Parramatta NRL star Nathan Hindmarsh, surfer Luke Egan, ex-Australian Test cricketers Peter Siddle and Brad Hodge, Brad Jones Racing co-owner Brad Jones, Erebus Motorsport boss Barry Ryan and Supercars commentator Neil Crompton have also been confirmed for the race.
