According to the Bureau of Meteorology's monthly rainfall archives, 299.8mm of rain was recorded across March, April and May this year.
That's the most rain for autumn since 1989, when 334.6mm was recorded at the Bathurst Agricultural Station.
Records at the Bathurst Agricultural Station date back to 1908.
The record-breaking rain has come at a perfect time for farmers, as NSW continues to battle through a drought that has plagued the state for several years.
Limekilns farmer Jerome Carberry said the rain in recent month has been beautiful.
"It's all soaked in and it's all been beautiful falls," he said.
"I remember back in the 1980s we had a really good autumn and we don't get many good autumns but this has been as good an autumn we've had in had in more than 30 years."
While the soaking rain has been well received by farmers across the region, Mr Carberry said there hasn't been much run-off.
"Pasture wise, everything is really good but all my dams are a quarter full and even Ben Chifley Dam is only a third full. We just need some run-off, that's my take on it," he said.
"The run-off would vary from farm to farm, with some people catching a bit of a storm, but I think as a generalisation it's not far off the money."
Mr Carberry said the rain has fallen at the perfect time and he's hoping, if long term forecasts are to be believed, for a wet winter.
"It didn't come until after summer, so it's been a really good autumn and we've only had a couple of frosts so far," he said.
"It's been our best lead into winter for a long, long time."
This year's March-April-May period was also the fifth wettest on record, with 1926 the wettest autumn with Bathurst receiving a whopping 400.6mm.
The second best Autumn rainfall was in 1950 with 354.7mm, followed by 1989's total and then 1954 with 323.5mm.
Bathurst has already received 462.8mm already in 2020, already topping 2018's total of 458.7mm and just under 2019's 508mm.
If the current rain trends continue for the best of the year, Bathurst could be on its way to its wettest year since 2010, when the city received 1087.9mm.
There's no rain forecast for Bathurst in the next week, although the city can expect some chilly mornings from Wednesday to Friday, with a low of -2 forecast.
